Food Intolerance Myth #1: Food intolerances are rare.

The truth is that millions of people in the United States alone have food intolerances. Worldwide, that number is easily up in the six-figure range. A lot of people have food intolerances, and some people have more than one. This myth is a part of a culture that doesn’t seem to understand how much food intolerances affect the general public.

Food Intolerance Myth #2: There are no dangerous food intolerances.

While the vast majority of food intolerances aren’t life-threatening, they can cause major pain and discomfort. They can also aggravate other conditions in the body and cause severe complications. While there aren’t a lot of reports of food intolerances causing death, dangerous is a relative word and they can definitely take you out of commission for a while.

Intolerances for eggs and milk are known for being easily outgrown. However, even these food intolerances can last well into adulthood, and some people will have them for the rest of their lives. With this in mind, it’s easy to see that all food intolerances can stay with you for your entire life.
